This 3D gourd sculpture created by gallery artist Louise McGowan Bezark measures approximately 5 x 4 x 5 inches. This cannon ball gourd sits atop a small wooden stand for stability. It has been pyro engraved by hand, painted and gold leafed and includes a brass and glass topper.

Louise’s inspiration comes from the beauty and grace of Ginkgo biloba, also known as the maidenhair tree, is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils dating back 270 million years. Native to China, the tree is widely cultivated, and was cultivated early in human history. Ginkgo are the only surviving member of an ancient order of plants, sometimes referred to as a living fossil.
